About us
Paul K. Kennedy Child Care Center has been open since August of 1978. The purpose of our center is to bring a high-quality education program to the area where working parents can bring their children to learn, grow, and be safe. Our center is open Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. We are closed on federal holidays and the Friday before Labor Day for staff in-service. We serve children from 6 weeks through 6 years old. We are licensed for 87 children, and we accept state subsidies, VA subsidies, Child Care Aware, and DCFS vouchers. We would love to welcome your family to our center, please call to schedule a tour.
Our Philosophy
It is our desire….To the child, time to grow. To help the child develop a strong sense of self and to allow him/her to blossom from within. To provide an environment rich in equipment and play materials, where experiences are direct and concrete, in order to build the foundation for later, more abstract experiences. To provide movement experiences for the development of physical and motor skills. To promote growth in visual, auditory, and tactile perception to sharpen the senses. To provide the opportunity to learn and practice patterning of all kinds visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. To provide listening activities. To provide opportunities for oral expression. To help the child develop problem-solving techniques. To promote creative expression through dance, art, music, cooking, and storytelling. To see the child and his/her teachers engage in a warm, loving relationship.
Why choose us
Paul K. Kennedy is accredited by NAEYC and licensed by DCFS. Our teaching staff and support staff are CPR/first aid trained, up to date with all mandated training, and most of all, they love the children in their care. We treat your family as if it were our family.
Testimonials
- I have been an employee at PKK for over 40 years. My children attended here, and my grandchildren were students here as well. I have met many happy families, teachers, and support staff, who now bring their children and grandchildren. PKK makes everyone who walk through our doors feel like family, and that's why I love my job at PKK.

- I started at PKK as a student volunteer, I worked in the three’s class, the two’s class and now I am employed here as an assistant in the toddler room. I love my job, my friends, and my toddlers.
